Start with yourself

The following words were written on the tombs of an Anglican Bishop on the Crypts of Westminister Abbey:

When I was young and free and my imagination had no limits, I dreamed of changing the world. As I grew older and wiser, I discovered the world would not change, so I shortened my sights somewhat and decided to change my country.
But it, too, seemed immovable.

As I grew into my twilight years, in one last desparate attepmt, I setteled for changing only my family, those closest to me, but alas, they would have none of it.

And now as I lie on my deathbed, I suddenly realize: if I had only change myself first, then by example I would have changed my family.

From their inspiration and encouragement, I would then have been able to better my country and, who knows, I may have even changed the world.

I really enjoyed the message inside it. It is actually reasonable and not that far to understand.

Dear Majid:

I am glad that you found it interesting and enjoyable. Sometimes, all we need is just a simple truth.

Dear Katayoun:
Indeed, I have enjoyed reading this great quot. Changing oneself is a rather challenging if not difficult responsibility. It demands one to make a willful choice. It requires facing unknown(s) and therefore overcome the fears. However, it is wonderful when one through reasoning realizes the need to change. In my opinion that is inspiring.

dear anonymous,
I will, definitely, appreciate it if you would kindly use a nom de plume, that i may use it when responding to your comment(s).
Your comments are pointedly, and precise. your argument is absolutely valid, for change requires challange, and it also deals with responsibilty as well. To make a "willful choice," as you have phrased it, is to realize one's abilities, and capabilities, and to cheerish it with care, joy, and sincerity. And in that regard, the inspiration is provoked at the sight of our need for change, whatever that may mean to each individual.
